The US Open

I watched the US Open Golf Championship this weekend. Everyone played badly, or so it seemed. Even the eventual winner lost 3 shots and the leader at the beginning of the day shot the worst round in 99 years.

I don't blame the golfers, however. While designing a difficult course for a major championship is all well and good, designing an impossible course is not. Skill in putting is replaced with dumb luck when putting surfaces are in the type of shape Pebble Beach was in. I suspect that the golfers will give the PGA an earfull - and that the venue won't host another major championship under the current greenskeeper.
